Lori Branstrom Memorial Award-First Time Junior Market Livestock Exhibitors

Award applications are due August 1, 2026.

There will be two $1,000 awards presented.

Awards will be presented at the Junior Market Livestock auction.

Awards may be utilized by recipient for ANY financial intention. This award may only be received by an exhibitor one time.

-REQUIREMENTS-

Must be a registered 2026 UPSF first year Junior Market Livestock Exhibitor and exhibiting a market animal for the first time in 2026

Completed Application-Answers to questions must be at least one paragraph long.

Two letters of Recommendation:

One from an individual of your choice and One from one of the following:

-a UPSF Representative (ex. Department Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent, Department Representative, DAC member, UPSF management, UPSF Authority member), Teacher or School Official, Club leader, 4-H Educator, Coach

Lori Branstrom Memorial Award-All Junior Exhibitors

Mary Lyon Equine Memorial Award

Mary Lyon was a well-respected horsewoman who dedicated many years to the horse community.  She was a proud supporter of Pony Club and 4-H. Mary led the Forever Horses 4-H Club for years and held many camps and clinics for youth to learn and develop their knowledge of horses. Education, kindness, generosity, and sportsmanship were always important to Mary.

The Mary Lyon Equine Memorial Award will be granted to a youth that is involved in our local horse community.  This has been made possible by generous donations from Mary’s family and individuals within our community that have been impacted by Mary.

2026 Youth Application

Application Deadline: August 1, 2026

There will be one $250 award given in 2026. Recipients will be announced Tuesday During the Youth Show at the UP State Fair. Award may be utilized for any financial intention.

REQUIREMENTS

Completed Application with Essay

Must be 8-20 years of age (age as of January 1)

A registered 2026 UP State Fair Equine Exhibitor

A letter of Recommendation from an individual of your choosing

A Picture of Applicant and their Equine Partner

Lori Branstrom Memorial Improvement Grant

Application Deadline:  Due April 15th, 2026

Lori Branstrom held many leadership roles at the U.P. State Fair for many years before losing her battle to Pancreatic Cancer. She was extremely committed to the U.P. State Fair, the Delta County Chamber of Commerce, and helping children. Lori loved to make improvements to the fair each year, as her goal was to make the U.P. State Fair a better place for her grandchildren and other children to show animals someday. It is with this grant that we hope to continue Lori’s legacy by making improvements to the U.P. State Fairgrounds.

Amount:

Two $1,000 grants will be awarded

Who is Eligible:

All departments, clubs, or exhibitors associated with the U.P. State Fair

Requirements: 

Complete this form in its entirety.

Improvement must be within the U.P. State Fair grounds

If awarded, a final report with information on how the funds were used and if the project met the goal of the application is due upon completion of the project send to exhibitorsmanager@deltami.org

Money must be used for an improvement or enhancement to an area of the fairgrounds and cannot be used for awards, banners, or normal department budgets.  Selection priority will be given to applicants that have not received a grant in the previous year.

Recipients will be notified by May 1st, 2026
